About Colleen

I bring 15 years of experience in K–5 education, with a background that includes classroom teaching, reading intervention, instructional coaching, and supporting students and teachers across all elementary grade levels. Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in figuring out what individual learners need and designing instruction that helps them move forward.

As an instructional coach, I worked extensively with student data, assessments, intervention planning, and differentiated instruction. That experience allows me to look beyond whether a child got an answer right or wrong and identify the underlying skills that may be getting in the way.

I’m also a big believer that relationships and confidence matter. I want children to feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and making mistakes. My approach is warm, encouraging, creative, and responsive to each child, while still being purposeful about academic growth.

After 15 years working with elementary students, one thing remains true: there is no single “right” way for every child to learn. My job is to help find the way that works for yours.

About the lesson

Every child learns differently, and tutoring should reflect that. I begin by getting to know your child as a learner, what they understand, where they’re getting stuck, and what helps things finally “click.” From there, I create engaging, targeted lessons that build skills while also rebuilding confidence.

My sessions can support reading, writing, math, homework, foundational skill gaps, or enrichment for K–5 students. I use data and progress monitoring to identify specific needs rather than simply repeating classroom assignments.

Most importantly, I want students to leave our sessions feeling successful. Learning should be appropriately challenging, but it should also feel encouraging, engaging, and achievable. My goal is not just better grades, it’s helping children become more confident, independent learners.
