About Marion

Bonjour! Passionate about education and cross-cultural relations, I have dedicated the first years of my career to teach French to students in middle school, university and language schools as well as from all over the world by teaching online. I have a specific understanding of people having English or Chinese as their mother tongue because I lived in English (UK, Canada) and in Chinese speaking countries (China, Taiwan) for several years and have the experience to learn English and Chinese Mandarin myself.

I hold a Bachelor in Teaching French as a Foreign and Second Language and a Master Degree in History, both from French universities. I am currently preparing another Master degree to teach French as a Foreign Language.

I am proud to say that my students achieved excellent results in taking French proficiency tests, exams in their schools and immigration interview in French. So if you put the right efforts into your learning and we work together to make you learn French, I am very confident about the results you will achieve.

I can provide reference letters from previous employers and students upon request.

About the lesson

Courses designed for: People who want to learn French from scratch or improve it, new migrants, students of International schools (preparation for GCSE, International Baccalaureate, SAT French subject), professionals who need French for their work (Professional French curriculum available), professionals who need to take French test for their career (The teacher is an examiner for the TCF, TEF, DFP, DELF/DALF tests), Canadian Federal government employees who need to take language tests.

Lesson includes: Work on the 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing including a variety of materials to keep the student interested in the class. Grammar exercises are included and is taught on a regular basis but it is only a part of the class since all the contents need to be balanced.

My methodology: During my 12 years of experience, I have learnt that each student is unique and my methodology adapts to each student's needs and interests. I love to spend time creating teaching resources. On the other side, I aim at building a strong frame to guide my students in their learning. I never forget my main goal which is to make them able to communicate in French. To achieve it, I provide a wide range of teaching materials (videos, listening, pdf, books, online interactive exercises and games..) allowing students to work on the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I always give homework to guarantee regular practice which is the key to learn a language (If you really don't want it, I will not force you :) ). I regularly do quizzes, exercises, discuss about pictures or videos during my classes to give the opportunity to the student to review the vocabulary and grammar. Repeating a word in different contexts is very important in the process of memorization. Finally, I often ask my students if they wish to work on a specific topic or need to review some specific points.

I used to teach all my classes in French only, even for the very beginners. Even though this method is very efficient to learn quickly, I observed that making the student feel confident is a key point in their learning. So I can teach you in two ways depending on how confident you feel and what you prefer: We can either do all the class in French or I can start the beginner level by including some English (or Chinese) explanation during the class and I will progressively turn the all class into French.

My rate is calculated according to my academic background, years of experience, all the teaching materials I am able to provide, the time spent to prepare your class and most importantly, my confidence in the results you will achieve.
Declared as an independent worker in Canada, my rate includes Canadian taxes.

I have a cancellation policy. If the student needs to change the time of the class it needs to be done at least 24 hours before the start of the class except under sickness or other severe circumstances. If the teacher needs to cancel the class less than 24 hours before the start of the class because of an emergency, the class will be rescheduled as soon as possible and the teacher will add complimentary 30 minutes to the next class.
