About Willa
Walking onto the stage at a festival in the American South 10 years ago felt like home. These 13 years of playing bluegrass and old-time music define my approach as a self-taught teacher.
Working with kids, adults, and exam candidates helps me see music differently. I prioritize LEFT HAND AGILITY alongside rhythm and timing for everyone. My neurodivergent-affirming methods honor the oral tradition. Hope to meet you soon.

Do you find that rigid structures often stifle your musical growth during practice? Learning by ear creates a natural connection to the violin that traditional books sometimes miss. I incorporate scales, arpeggios, and shifting positions to build your foundational confidence. Tuning by ear is a primary focus for my students because it improves intonation immediately.
We handle grade exam prep for ABRSM and Trinity alongside sight reading and vibrato. A monthly progress report shared with parents ensures that everyone stays aligned on long-term goals. These sessions combine my 13 years of playing with accessible, step-by-step guidance. I enjoy watching students find their unique voice through these folk-rooted exercises.
