About Rika
Hello! I’m Rika, originally from Niigata, Japan, and currently living in Australia. I’m passionate about meeting new people and embracing different, challenging environments. Having learned a new language myself, I understand how challenging it can be, and I’m here to guide you through it with patience and encouragement. Though Niigata is a smaller city, it’s filled with natural beauty and renowned for its sake, and I’m excited to share more about my hometown with you during our lessons. I’d also love to hear about your hometown and your experiences! I bring over 3 and a half years of experience teaching English, and I’ve spent 2 and a half years living with international students in Tokyo, where I also supported them in learning Japanese. This experience has allowed me to build a deep understanding of language acquisition, and I can use my knowledge of English to assist you when needed. I aim to make each lesson engaging, supportive, and enjoyable, and I look forward to helping you improve your Japanese. Feel free to join my lessons—together, we’ll make great progress!

My teaching approach focuses on practical, real-world Japanese, moving beyond textbook language to make learning conversational and relevant. I use a variety of techniques, including role play and situational practice, to ensure that what you learn is immediately usable in everyday contexts.
My goal is not just to teach you Japanese, but to help you remember and apply it effectively after each lesson.! I believe that learning should be fun and memorable, making each lesson an enjoyable experience that sticks with you.
I offer 50-minute lessons tailored to all levels and ages, whether you’re learning for travel, work, studies, or just to immerse yourself in Japanese culture.
