About Guadalupe
In 2005, I moved to the United States and accepted a position lecturing Spanish at West Virginia University (WVU). I recognized the necessity to build an academic foundation, so I enrolled in the Master Program at West Virginia University and completed two Masters Degrees, one master in foreign languages with focus in Spanish and another master in secondary education. During that time, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant lecturing different levels of Spanish. To continue improving my qualifications and to incorporate research activities into my skillset, I decided to complete an EdD in the Curriculum & Instruction program with a minor in foreign language.
The student/teacher interaction was the key to experiment and apply multiple teaching techniques and develop my instructional skills to achieve a productive learning community in the classroom.

A typical lesson has to involve 3 phases Input comprehension check and output. I use communicative approach using activities based on real contexts that facilitate language acquisition. For example, in a real situation presented to the students, they can give recommendations or suggestions in order to practice the subjunctive and imperative mode of the verbs. On the other hand, a cooperative learning strategy (sharing pair or small groups) is reinforced, so that the students also learn through exchange and negotiation with each other.
