About Long
Beginners often tell me they feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of scales and modes available to them. I admit that I struggled for years to connect my music theory knowledge to the actual act of playing live guitar until I started gigging consistently.
Having taught 88 students over 13 years, I find that focusing on power chords and rhythm guitar creates a much faster path to playing songs. My VCA degree provides the foundation, but my practical experience as a performer means I can help you read tabs and sheet music without the usual academic boredom. I am here to help you get those strumming patterns and lead guitar solos down flat.

What is the first thing you hope to play when you pick up your guitar during our session? We start by looking at your current ability and setting a clear plan for your development. I use my 13 years of stage experience to show you how to apply songwriting concepts and barre chords in a way that actually works. It is simple work.
I keep my teaching style laid-back and focused on what you need to succeed right now. I always enjoy seeing my students finally find their own voice on the fretboard.
