About Chu-Chi

I graduated from Episcopal High School in Virginia, attended the University of Maryland-College Park, before transferring and graduating from Baltimore City Community College. I then attended the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy, worked as a pharmacy technician, before transitioning to a community pharmacist role. Due to some changes in the previous company primarily following COVID-19, I transitioned to remote work where I did some consulting and medication therapy reviews. Following this I worked as a mail-order pharmacist, before returning to community practice.

I will go the extra mile to ensure you understand the material and tailor my approach to your learning style. Likewise, I will make myself available to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.

Apart from tutoring and helping others, I enjoy soccer--playing and watching it. I also enjoy listening to hip-hop, r and b and other genres of music; watching rom-coms, superhero, action, adventure, drama movies, and anime tv shows and movies. I like to read (or at least listen to) books and magazines. I believe life is meant to be lived for the purpose of helping others and modeled after the Son of God, Jesus. At the same time, I believe life can be fun and enjoyable. God bless you and I look forward to getting to know you more, work with you, and help you find opportunities in the midst of your learning challenges!

Overview:

As a pharmacy school graduate and currently licensed pharmacist, I can relate to how frustrating and overwhelming pharmacy school and its subjects can be. Despite the challenges, you find opportunities you least expect. My goal and approach is to help you embrace these challenges and prepare yourself the best for the opportunities that come your way.

Teaching methods and Techniques: I am willing to adapt my techniques to your learning style and preference. Still here are some of the techniques you can expect

Socratic Method: The art of using questions to open your mind

Case Scenarios & Role Play: Application of the material you study (both with open-ended discussion questions and assessment like quiz questions)

Practice and Review: Primarily for calculations but could design or find questions related to given calculations and these would be reviewed.

Lesson Plan:

1. Check in and have open-ended discussion
2. Identify current concept or subject taught
3. Provide an overview that is short or long enough to understand
4. Obtain or devise questions related to the overview
5. Go over the questions
6. Identify and address any issues, concerns, but also solutions/methods for solving similar questions

Things that set me apart as a tutor:

Have community, consulting, and mail order experience as a pharmacist, so can contextualize/relate the content for applications in my background

Willing and able to adjust my teaching style to fit you.

For example, if you are a visual learner we can use slide decks and find examples you can see. If you are hands-on, I can assign and check/monitor understanding by doing practice case studies and calculations. If you are auditory, we can listen to some of the recordings or discuss the topic in depth and you can record it. If you are another style or multi-modal we can find and do activities that will suit that style

Constantly Learning and Like Sharing Knowledge

The world continues to change (for better, most) and one of the ways to keep up with this change is to use resources that allow you to do that.

As pharmacy is a profession that is frequently changing and becoming increasingly reliant on technology, it is important to find and continue seeking resources that can help with embracing the change and navigating the various developments

Faith Foundation and Encouragement

It's been said that sometimes we have to be our own cheerleader and biggest fan. However, it doesn't hurt to have someone or people who will be in your corner. I have experienced and seen how faith can go hand in hand with pharmacy. Equally, I have recognized the value of encouragement. I will do my utmost best to keep you grounded/calm and confidently humble. I will encourage and help you find techniques that help you stay the course when it's challenging.

Intended Audience

Any and everyone BUT primarily
Individuals interested in pharmacy and/or pharmacy school
Pharmacy School Students
Students preparing for their clinicals
Other pharmacists

Thank you for reading (or browsing) till the end ;)
Looking forward to working with you, soon!
