What is a typical lesson 1 hour lesson plan?
5-10 min Warm-up Puzzle, Game Review, or Last Week's Concept Review
10 min New Concept Introduction
15 min Practice Problems (based on New Concept)
25 min Practice Game
What are my teaching methods?
I use a play-based approach made specifically to keep young kids engaged. My lessons break chess strategies into short mini-lessons, followed immediately by practice problems to help them remember what they learned. During the practice games, the focus is on learning from losses and mistakes, celebrating wins, and enjoying the beauty of chess.
Who are the lessons for?
My lessons are designed primarily for elementary school students (give or take a couple years).
