About Romans
I am a computer science and maths enthusiast about to start my 3rd year at the University of Manchester. I enjoy sharing my love for these subjects and aim to remove people's hatred for them!
I have made a couple of 'cool', random coding projects before, including a Raspberry Pi Lo-Fi alarm clock and a program that allows you to play Minecraft using a piano. Why? I'm not sure. But you can learn to make stuff like this too - anyone can!
I've spent the last year working (12 month industry placement) for a mobile agency and have worked on 2 Android apps - financial banking app and a news reading app.

Programming
-----
I believe that even if you were to watch an in-depth course covering everything from basics to advanced techniques, it doesn't mean you can program.
The way I approach teaching coding is giving students programming challenges catered to their level (or, they can choose a personal project if they have one in mind) and guiding them through the problems. I think it is important that the student gives it their best to solve the problem on their own first, even if the solution is not perfect or only partially correct. The problems will incorporate more and more programming concepts as we go along.
I will help the student improve their:
- Programming skills (including tidiness of code)
- Debugging skills - finding problems in broken code
- Googling skills - that's right! Google is a programmer's best friend!
I primarily teach Python, but I can teach Java, Kotlin and Swift too.
I can adapt to other languages if necessary, but would need to discuss first.
Any level, any age is welcome!
