About Kevin
I love helping students achieve and have a proven track record of guiding students across a wide spectrum of backgrounds towards success in both Accounting and Math subjects.
What makes me different? A unique blend of (1) extensive teaching/tutoring experience, (2) subject matter expertise, and (3) deep understanding of teaching and learning pedagogy.
My Teaching / Tutoring experience includes being the TA for the Yale College Accounting Class (held office hours to tutor students, conducted numerous study sessions, designed and proctored exams), providing 1:1 accounting tutoring to Yale MBA students, and spending 2 years as a Calculus AB AP (official College Board certification - multiple students passed AP exam) and Pre-Calculus/Algebra 2 teacher.
I also have a substantial amount of subject matter expertise across accounting and math subjects. My Accounting expertise was developed through my time as a Financial Auditor with PwC, earning my CPA (inactive) after first attempt, my former role as a Strategic Finance Senior Director for a $1B+ company, an Accounting Minor Degree from UCLA, and an MBA Degree from Yale University (received Distinction in Accounting for achieving in the top 10% of the class). My Math expertise was developed through my Master's Degree in Teaching Mathematics as well as my 2 years as a teacher during which I designed and taught certified Calculus AB AP and Pre-calculus/Algebra 2 classes.
Throughout my professional experience with educational organizations and Master's Degree program in Teaching, I have also anchored my tutoring approach in research based teaching / learning pedagogy. During our time together we will define your specific learning objective(s), develop the knowledge and skills required to meet the learning objective(s), have a system in place to consistently check whether you've met the learning objectives and - if not - we'll identify and work on the specific gaps in knowledge, and finally you'll prove - and have confidence in - your mastery of the learning objective.
Please do not hesitate to reach out and learn more. I'm confident that you'll find our tutoring sessions to be thoughtful, objective driven, and - most importantly - effective in helping you reach your learning goals.
