About Ross
As I mentioned before I’m a law student, currently in my 4 year of study at Glasgow University. I plan to teach modern studies and history (my favourite subjects at school)!
I’m generally a very approachable and friendly person, and I really have a passion for these two subject!

At school I really excelled in the social subjects through a real interest in the topics. I have As in both higher History and Modern studies, as well as an A (band 1) in Advanced higher history. In my nat 5 modern studies exam I achieved 100%.
For national 5, recall is crucial in both subjects. Learning how to memorise information is unfortunately a huge part of school exams in social subjects, and talking through the topics in weekly sessions will be a great way to start to build knowledge.
For higher, the biggest hurdle is grasping essay writing (this was the first thing my teachers got me to do in 5th year. As a law student (and at school too) essay writing has always been my thing- so making sure you write great essays will be something I can definitely help with.
The nature of both subjects means different schools teach different areas (be it the wars of independence, crusades or the French Revolution) for history or for modern studies, where each school chooses to study the political system of another country.This can make tutoring a little more tough, however, as someone with a general interest in the subjects (and above average knowledge in politics and history) I think I’d be more than able to grasp the recall element.
