My lessons are aimed to make me understand the key areas of improvement for my students as well as their strengths.
Building trust right from the beginning is key for me, which is why I emphasise short but effective "Ice Breaker" activities where I learn about the student's interests and academic concerns.
In a typical lesson, we begin with a warm-up for the chosen topic and then a step-by-step explanation of it alongside any applicable tips. Then I demonstrate with a practice question which is followed by a question I do interacting with the student. Then I expose them to questions at different levels to test their understanding and support them to consequently tailor the revision work which I will encourage them to complete by the next session.
This ensures my lessons are tailored to the student's needs and that I ensure learning is taking place with full understanding of the topic being discussed by the end of the lesson.
