About Angelica

Hi! My name is Angelica and in the summer of 2023 I completed my A levels, gaining two A*s in History and Politics. When I first started studying Politics, I really disliked it, didn’t understand the structure and why my teachers made me write my essays in confusing ways, and did not think I would do very well. Now I realise how far-reaching politics is and I am currently enrolled in my second year at the University of Edinburgh, studying Social Anthropology and Politics. The turning point during my A levels occurred when I fell in love with the subject (I know, cliché). If you’re feeling the way I felt when I first took politics maybe listen to what someone who’s been in your position has to say, it could really help.

About the lesson

Achieving high grades is difficult, however I found that small, consistent teaching and revision helps the most in preparation for exam season. To begin I would focus on my students having a clear knowledge bank of examples they can refer back to in essays not only to improve their understanding but detail. The closer we get to exam season the more important it is to refer to set essay structures and repeatedly practice the timing for exams. From my recent experiences, I have found that my techniques of studying prove incredibly successful as I’m sure they would for you too.
