About Sienna
Traditional music captured my attention early on at the Old Town School of Folk Music. I listen first. My teaching style relies on oral tradition where melodies and ornamentation are absorbed through patient imitation rather than just reading dots on a page. I have spent 13 years working with everyone from total beginners to seasoned players.
Whether you are a returning learner or an advanced guitarist looking to refine lead work, I help you understand the instrument. We explore scales, modes, and power chords to build your confidence on the fretboard. I have guided 290 students through this process. You will be holding your own at a jam session before you know it.

Pacing feels best when it mirrors the natural flow of a conversation between two musicians. We might look at your barre chords for a moment, then switch to a quick improvisation exercise to keep the energy high. Having taught 290 students, I recognize that structure is vital for those who have spent too long playing alone. We use ear training to make reading tabs unnecessary, drawing on my 13 years of experience with folk tradition.
I also record a monthly review of your progress to highlight exactly where you are growing. My background includes a Certificate in Traditional Music which informs how I teach lead guitar and soloing. You will walk away with concrete goals for your next practice session.
