My approach to teaching/tutoring advanced concepts is to bring the information to a simplified level, and then gradually raising the student's understanding of the concepts by allowing the student to build on them by themselves. This method allows students to make mistakes and understand why the concepts matter, instead of focusing on results and outcomes.
