About Raquel
Hi!
My name is Raquel and I am an artist based in London.
I graduated with honours from Fine Arts in Madrid (2009 - 2014) and majored in Sculpture and Drawing.
My training was very classic from a very early age and have studied under many professors over the years, which has given me the option of seeing many teaching techniques and learn about many different styles as well as try a variety of media.
I have slowly been refining my own style, which is founded on an academic framework but also free of restraining rules. I believe in encouraging one´s personal view and in the wonders of creating your own version of the human figure.
Visually, my own practice revolves around portraiture and the human body with a conceptual narrative, and conceptually it is based on research and the study of art history.

I would draw a personalised plan according to your goals. A total beginner or a more experienced maker, I would always want to encourage your own personal style and work on your strengths.
My lesson plan will revolve around the human figure from a classical approach and we will touch upon a number of media and styles. You will learn how to draw a portrait, a human body and will gain understanding on anatomy, and shading techniques. You will learn to make quick sketches and work on long poses. I will also show you how to work from a photo and real-life models.
My teaching encourages working from the general to the detail and will show you how to build very strong foundations from where to build up a composition that makes sense and has depth and interest.
You will gain confidence in your drawing abilities and you will be able to transfer your skills to any other discipline within the plastic arts.
I graduated with honours from my BA in Fine Arts in Madrid in 2014 and majored in Drawing and Sculpture. I have been training formally in drawing since the age of 12 and continue to do so by attending classes, drawing from life and photographs and exploring new techniques and media.
