About Ahnya
Through my experience as a student in many different schools and school systems, I have seen that there is a difference in education and learning experiences depending on where your school is located and the school's racial demographics. And the education system in place does not cater to those who learn contrary to the mainstream way of teaching. Students whose minds work differently are automatically put at a disadvantage. My mom was a teacher for many years in different school systems as well, and observing her experience as an educator influenced my perspective. I know that I can be a catalyst for change in this area because I believe that everyone learns differently. Teaching should be a dynamic practice so that all students can have the absolute best chance for success. And that is what I will bring into my tutoring sessions.

I understand how it can be hard for students to truly grasp and understand material in a classroom especially when there isn't any one-on-one time with the teacher, that is why I think tutoring is so valuable. I believe in a less mainstream method of educating. I don't think that simply throwing words and instructions at you is what helps you learn. That may be what makes you memorize, but I would prefer you actually retain what is being taught to you. I will sit with you and talk everything out, ensuring that you understand what is being asked of you. I want to work your critical thinking muscles! Meaning that I want you to end up taking your own education by the reins and finish strong individually.
