About Thomas
Hello! My name is Thomas, and I am a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto. I am currently completing an Astronomy and Astrophysics Major and a Computer Science Major, which means that I am constantly surrounded by mathematics and physics in my daily life.
I was born in France where I studied until Year 11, and had the opportunity to move to the United States where I finished high school, and then to Canada, which has opened my perspective on different teaching methods in a variety of subjects, both in English and French.
I have also been in close contact with the teaching and tutoring field, having previous experience in online and in-person tutoring in mathematics and ESL, and relatives in the United States teaching system.

Bonjour ! Je m'appelle Thomas, et je suis un élève à l'Université de Toronto en troisième année de premier cycle. Je suis en voie de compléter une Majeure en Astronomie et Astrophysique, et une Majeure en Informatique. Je suis donc constamment entouré des maths et de la physique dans ma vie de tous les jours.
Je suis né en france et y ai fait mes études jusqu'en 1re, et ai eu l'opportunité de déménager aux Etats-Unis où j'ai fini mon lycée, puis au Canada, m'ayant permis une ouverture d'esprit sur les différentes façons d'enseigner dans une variété de disciplines, en anglais tout comme en français.
J'ai aussi été souvent en contact proche avec le domaine de l'ensignement et du tutorat, ayant obtenu de l'expérience en offrant des cours particuliers en mathématiques et anglais langue étrangère, ainsi que des membres de ma famille enseignant dans le système Etats-Unien.

My lessons are primarily focused on middle and high school mathematics and physics, although you may inquire about other topics as well. I completed the IB Diploma Program during high school, but am open about tutoring non-IB content as well!
A lesson would likely begin with a description of your current knowledge, followed by how you want to develop or expand that knowledge; I want to know what you are trying to achieve and the tools at your disposition right now so we can head in that direction as efficiently as possible. We would cover conceptual material, and I would make sure you understand it before moving to practice questions, where we would put that understanding to the test and refine it if needed.
I strongly believe focusing on the "how", the methods and techniques you use are just as important as the "what", the answer you get to, so you can expect this to be at the core of my lessons.
