About Sam

Hello! My name is Sam. I am a keen percussionist and singer with over 5 years' teaching experience, and I have completed a BA in Music and MSt in Musicology from the University of Oxford. I also have Enhanced DBS clearance and extensive child safeguarding training. Looking forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

I believe in equipping students with the tools they need to appreciate and understand music without rote learning. I aim to give pupils an enjoyable and strong grounding in theory, which ensures success at exams. I have over 4 years' experience in theory teaching and offer personalised and engaging lessons for students of all ages. Lessons are normally an hour in length, but I can offer longer lessons if needed.

Perfect! Sam is an amazing singing teacher! He’s kind, patient, and has a knack for explaining things in a way my 7-year-old can easily understand. A fantastic singer with strong music theory, he’s also always punctual and organised. My son loves his lessons and has made incredible progress. Highly recommend!

I could honestly not recommend Sam enough. He helped my daughter understand complicated musical concepts by breaking them down into easy bits. This made her more able to figure out how to play her piano pieces. She really loved learning with him, and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn music theory.

Could not recommend Sam enough as a tutor! He managed to turn even the most daunting of my dissertation-related problems into easy, manageable tasks and worked incredibly hard to make sure I felt motivated and confident throughout our lessons. Despite picking a somewhat niche dissertation topic, Sam went above and beyond to ensure he had a firm grasp of the issues at hand so that we could have a fruitful discussion. If you ever feel lost or stuck with a dissertation, Sam will be an absolute lifesaver.
