About Miya

Hi! I’m Miya — a three-time Mathlete conference award recipient, two-sport athlete, and current AP Calculus BC student with a perfect 36 on the ACT Math section. My dedication both in the classroom and on the field has taught me discipline, focus, and perseverance, qualities I bring into every tutoring session. I plan to study mathematics in college and love sharing my passion for problem-solving with others. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style. I focus on helping students not only understand math concepts but also build lasting confidence in their abilities. With a strong academic foundation, a team-oriented mindset, and proven success in competitive math, I’m committed to helping every student reach their full potential and even discover that math can be enjoyable and rewarding.

About the lesson

As a three-time Mathlete conference award recipient and current AP Calculus BC student with a perfect 36 on the ACT Math section, I bring both advanced math knowledge and a genuine passion for helping others succeed. My teaching method focuses on breaking complex problems into simple, clear steps and building a strong foundational understanding before moving on to more challenging material.

A typical lesson with me starts by identifying what concepts a student is struggling with, followed by a short review or example problem to pinpoint the misunderstanding. From there, I guide students through practice problems, encourage active problem-solving, and provide tips for recognizing patterns and applying logical strategies on their own. Each session ends with a quick recap to reinforce key takeaways and set small, achievable goals for next time.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students as a peer who truly understands the challenges of learning math today. I make lessons engaging, supportive, and customized to each student’s pace and learning style.
My lessons are ideal for middle school and high school students, whether you’re preparing for the ACT, tackling algebra or calculus, or just looking to feel more confident in math class.
