About Phil
I got into teaching because I love my subjects. Over the years, that has evolved though and I want the young people in my charge to celebrate their uniqueness, embrace risk and face adversity with resilience, empowering them to change their worlds for the better. In a world undergoing such unprecedented change, the purpose and role of education has changed and the role of educators has become about the development of the transferable skills required by learners to enable them to flourish beyond education. My responsibility, as an educator, to guide and cultivate such individuals is now more important than ever as we aim to equip young people with the tools that they need to understand their roles, responsibilities and values in shaping and managing a more equitable shared future. I have many passions beyond my work including (badly) playing the bass guitar, dragon boating, golf, Warhammer, cooking and travelling, but my calling is education.

I believe that education is about the development of the whole person, encompassing all aspects of how we choose to live our lives. By using proven metacognitive pedagogies (I'm a big fan of Deborah Eyre and Barak Rosenshine) I will ensure that you develop your long-term memory, have a thorough understanding of the exam board and know what you need to thrive!
