About Janice

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and have have been working at Irving A. Robbins Middle School in Farmington, CT since 2013. I was first hired as a math tutor to help an eighth grade student in algebra and now run a math support group after school. I support students in all subjects, and help them understand the lessons when whole class instruction is difficult. Since my degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling and I have many years of working with individuals with disabilities, I can work with students with any ability. I also have experience working with children in preschool and elementary school so I am confident I can help students with subjects at the kindergarten through eighth grade level.

About the lesson

My focus is helping each student learn the subject and start with where they feel comfortable and confident. I build the lesson from there to help them realize that they can do it. Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses and it is important to help them feel empowered and confident so that they can eventually achieve their learning goals independently.
