Tutoring someone in how to read and write a CV (curriculum vitae) requires a structured, clear, and supportive approach. Whether your students are job seekers, students, or professionals, the key is to build their understanding step by step, while encouraging them to think from the perspective of the employer. Here’s how you can approach tutoring and how I would structure classes on this topic: Your General Approach to Tutoring Know Your Student: Assess their background, goals, industry, and language level. Set Clear Learning Goals: E.g., “Understand CV structure,” “Write a CV for a job application,” “Tailor CVs to job descriptions.” Use examples: Show both strong and weak CVs. Interactive learning: Encourage students to write and revise their own CVs as they learn. Give Feedback, Not Just corrections: Explain why a section works or doesn’t. Build Confidence: Remind them it’s a skill that improves with practice. My techniques on teach Reading and Writing a CV involves in (Class Plans) Class 1: Introduction to CVs, their types, purpose and sample of CVs. Class 2: CV structure and Sections header Class 3: Writing a CV Activity: students peer-review each other’s CVs. Class 5: Tailoring and finalizing and how to adapt your CV to different jobs
