About Izzy
Hello! I am a bassist, producer, composer, and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan. I have been playing since I was 12, professionally since I was 16, and am currently 21, studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. At Berklee, I am playing and arranging in the highest ensembles and productions the school has to offer. I also record in studio sessions multiple times a week. I have achieved this with intense practice and truly absorbing and enjoying so many styles of music. I play jazz, rock, funk, rock, reggae, metal, pop, Latin music, and even flamenco! I have a great passion for teaching others how to further their skills and create joy with music. If that learning style sounds like it would suit you, I am the tutor for you.

- I use a student-centered approach, focusing on styles and pieces the student is interested in, then combining that with theory. I teach modern styles such as pop and rock, along with more advanced genres such as jazz and classical music theory.
- A typical lesson plan might go like this:
- A quick introduction (if needed),
- Going over last week's assignment
- Learning a new technique/concept and examples of it in songs/pieces
- Choosing an assignment with the student that they will enjoy and be inspired to practice
- Going over what we learned today and saying goodbye until the next lesson!
- What matters the most to me as a tutor is that the student keeps their passion for music alive! With my method, I have been able to achieve quick and lasting progress with students and they are always excited to pick up the bass.
- I teach all levels, from the first song a student writes up to teaching advanced jazz harmony and classical tonal theory.
