About Solomon

Solomon will be joining Barclays Investment Bank as an Investment Banking Analyst in the UK Advisory & Corporate Broking team in July 2022. He graduated from University College London with a Biochemistry BSc degree in July 2020. Throughout his tenure at university, he grew interested in financial services, completing a range of relevant internships, including a Spring Internship at Goldman Sachs in the Equity Research Division and the Summer Analyst programme at Jefferies in the UK Coverage team, within Investment Banking. In his third year of university, he was elected President of the UCL Investment Fund, where he managed a team of 25 students. As President, he especially enjoyed hosting sessions explaining financial concepts. He is also passionate about entrepreneurship and the venture capital landscape, having worked in high-profile early-stage businesses, such as Stint, as well as being selected to assess such startups as a Consultant at Capital Pilot. Outside of studies, he is passionate about charity and has worked for multiple organisations in the space of Education. In recognition of these experiences, he was selected to sit on the Advisory Panel of the UK's leading education charity, IntoUniversity, where he advises on the charity's future. He also sits on the Alumni Ambassador Board of upReach. Solomon also enjoys photography, cinema and rollerblading.

About the lesson

Experience

Teaching for 2.5 years on a weekly basis with a paired mentee with the charity IntoUniversity. 2-hour session every two weeks. Taught 5 subjects at GCSE level (Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, Chemistry).

Volunteered as a facilitator with Spiral Skills at Ark Evelyn Grace Academy, teaching a class of Year 9 students for a full school day through a range of workshops for GCSE Geography and Business Studies.

Volunteered for 5 months with CoachBright for their flagship mentorship programme. Tutored Mathematics at GCSE level for one hour weekly at Bacon's College, for which I was awarded a Student Leadership Accreditation.

I have also served on the Widening Participation team at UCL, as a Student Ambassador and I have mentored a student with the educational charity IntoUniversity for 2 years. For these experiences, I was then selected to sit on the National Advisory Panel of IntoUniversity (see (concealed information) and also sit on the Alumni Ambassador Board of upReach, another leading social mobility charity. I was further shortlisted for the UK’s 2018 ‘Student Social Mobility Awards’. These achievements reflect my genuine desire to teach and I hope to bring this passion to my clients.

Session information

Session lengths can vary between 1-2 hours but are tailored to client needs in all cases. Target my services to students between the age ranges of 14-18 years old (GCSE and A-Level).
