About Jack
Aside from being a total science nerd, I am a special ed teacehr assistant at a middle school in Northern Virginia. I am pursuig a degree in secondary science education focusing on biological sciences, but am well versed in other topics like algebra and statistics.

My goal is to meet students where they are at and make sure there is true comprehension before movignon to the next topic. Finding comon ground between concepts and connecting newly learned ideas to previous bits of knowledge is a strategy I use. Doing this ensures students understand the individual ideas they are learnign within the greater context of any given math of science domain. One technique I use in assessing comprehension levels is to swap the roles of student and teacher. When a student is asked to teach me a concept, I can quickly identify content areas they are strong in and where we can spend more time. Not only does this help me as an instructor identify next steps for instruction, but it results in a more meanignful level of understanding for students.
