About Doris
Refining your sound starts with understanding the mechanics of your own instrument because your voice is unique to you. You will receive a diagnostic vocal assessment for every new student to ensure we address your specific needs from the first day.
We utilize warm-up exercises to protect your vocal health while expanding your range. My experience as a Canadian Opera Company chorister allows me to emphasize proper tone and resonance in all styles. Microphone technique is a regular part of our work for those interested in recording or live sound.
I provide guidance on phrasing so you can express the lyrics with genuine depth. Let us work together to make your voice resonate with clarity and strength.

My BMus degree from the UBC School of Music serves as the foundation for my vocal pedagogy. Singing is a physical act that requires total coordination of the entire body.
I have taught 126 students across various genres, focusing on everything from belting technique to subtle vibrato control. Understanding how to manage your head and chest voice changes your entire approach to singing. Many hobbyists come to me because they want to improve their diction and articulation for better clarity.
We often work on sight singing and rhythm to help you become a more versatile musician. It is genuinely enjoyable to watch a student gain the confidence to perform in front of others.
