About Leidys
I have taught for more than 10 years. I have taught more than 100 students. My students have developed a love for the learning, discovery, understanding and performing of music.
Results that I have observed in our students:
Using the Brain-Based Piano Method, our students have adopted a flexible attitude towards learning, created the habit of making connections, such as the ones between music and math, and applied the critical thinking skills developed from their piano study to other areas of their lives.

Hi, I am originally from Venezuela, where I grew up as a young member of the Venezuelan National System of Youth Orchestras (El Sistema). There I learned to play the clarinet and performed with various youth orchestras. I continued my musical studies while attending the highly competitive Central University of Venezuela (UCV) International Studies program.
I completed my musical studies in Miami at the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) and Florida International University (FIU) where I earned a Master of Science in Music Education.
As a music teacher and co-creator of the Brain-Based Piano Method, I am using my music education training and more than 10 years teaching experience to perfect and expand the Brain-Based Piano Method, a comprehensive approach to studying music and piano.
As the Outreach Coordinator of the Coral Gables Junior Music Club , a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships and performance opportunities to young music students, I help to organize presentations and artistic events.
Methodology:
Together with Mihai Preda, PhD, I have created the Brain-Based Piano Method, a mindful and comprehensive system to learn how to play the piano that was created with today’s children, parents and teachers in mind.
It incorporates the latest scientific understanding on how we learn. Students of all ages will find a stimulating framework that supports their individual growth and creativity.
The Initiation Level is intended for children 3 and up . The Initiation package is comprised of the Initiation Book, a CD, a sheet with 40 reward badges. Students can access video tutorials online with the songs and activities mentioned in the book. Teacher resources also include a Rhythm Game, Song Puzzle Game and Staff Game.
Children are absorbing new knowledge at an incredibly fast pace. This method provides their growing minds with plenty of material for learning and experimentation.
At the most elementary level, all aspects of musicianship are covered: rhythmic and melodic development, ear training and playing by ear, piano technique, reading and writing.
Following the natural process by which children learn their mother tongue (listen, imitate, speak, read and write), they learn music, first by listening, then by clapping, singing, then by playing on the piano. Reading and writing follow.
The Do-Re-Mi system of note names (the Solfege system) is used for its many advantages: it allows students to make a direct connection between the sounds they hear and sing, and the notes they play.
We paid particular attention to developing the children’s creativity. Students are encouraged to come up with their own rhythms, melodies, to modify and combine the songs they learn in different ways and to create their own arrangements.
The book is organized in 5 chapters. Each chapter has two songs, a technical study and activities that help children learn different skills (rhythm, ear training, theory, reading and writing etc.) Most activities are related to the songs learned. Also included in each chapter is one creativity bonus.
The book is accompanied by video tutorials accessible online, which allow students to review the material learned at their own pace, as often as they like.
Systematic assessments are built into the learning process at every stage. The skills mastered are rewarded with a special badge or stamp.
A Final Test assesses the skills and playing abilities developed so far. Students receive a Diploma and are ready to move on to the Preparatory level.
