About Rachel

" I’ll never forget my second private music teacher and how she changed my life. I was 10 years old, and even though I started playing the piano at 7, those lessons weren’t much fun. I had no idea the joy ahead of me with music when a private music teacher actually took the time to cater to my specific needs.

Enter Mrs. Marfisi, my second private music teacher. She was so patient, kind and fun. Attending my music lessons was the highlight of my week! I believe those times with Mrs. Marfisi changed the course of my life in so many ways. I played music through college and I became an elementary school music teacher. I thank Mrs. Marfisi for getting me started.

Now fast forward to today. I get joy from watching my students learn, grow, and have fun. Not only are the lessons tailored to their specific needs, but my students choose the songs they want to play. They enjoy learning to play their favorite songs!
I am glad to be able to offer high end in person and online private music lessons, and give the gift of music to students all over the country. I am an accredited teacher with my Bachelors of Music in Music Education and my K-12 Music Teaching License.

By the way, I provide instruction for adults too- of all levels. With my method of teaching and my step by step approach, I can double almost anyone’s piano playing in 30 days or less."

About the lesson

I teach using a step by step process where my students only learn one new thing at a time so they can be successful. I focus on learning and performing songs and understanding music. First my students learn to play songs and then they learn rhythm, reading the notes, etc. Beginners start playing songs in their first lesson. I let my students choose the songs they want to play so they play songs that they know and like and are more likely to practice. I teach students of all levels ages 4 and up. Each lesson the students play through their songs and I decide if they are done with them or need to keep working on them. If they are done, we will replace it with a new song. If they need to keep working on it, I explain to them what they need to work on. When they are ready to move on to the next step, I teach them what they need to know to do that. Lessons with me are fun and enjoyable and my students feel safe to grow as musicians.

Details

I don't do lesson packages like the ones listed. My packages involve the length of the lesson time you want to select and what is included in each package. They are not a set number of lessons. I don't charge by the hour, lessons are either a half hour or 45 minutes. For the hourly rate I doubled my half hour rate. 45 Minute lessons are a different cost. I will explain all of the pricing information in the introductory lesson. I also don't give a free first lesson, you will have to pay the regular lesson rate for that lesson, but there is no obligation beyond that lesson.
