About Dylan

I am a flute tutor who enjoys guiding students of all ages in their musical journey. My teaching combines creativity, accountability, mentorship, and critical thinking. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while nurturing expressive musicality. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to develop well-rounded musicianship. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, composition, and musical storytelling. I help students set goals, practice consistently, and track their progress. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, not setbacks. I adapt lessons to each student’s level, pace, and learning style.

I act as a mentor, providing encouragement, guidance, and motivation. Lessons balance technical skill-building with creative exploration to keep students engaged. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in every session. My goal is to develop confidence, discipline, and a love for music in all students. I also teach related subjects such as performance preparation, theory, and rhythm. I create a positive and inspiring environment where students feel safe to experiment. My ultimate aim is to help students become expressive, confident, and lifelong learners of music.

About the lesson

My flute teaching style combines creativity, guidance, and accountability. I aim to help students develop both technical skill and expressive ability. Each lesson encourages critical thinking, self-reflection, and curiosity. I act as a mentor who supports growth and motivates students to reach their goals. Accountability ensures consistent practice and steady progress. Lessons include tone, breath control, rhythm, and phrasing exercises. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and listening skills to build a well-rounded understanding. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation and composing short pieces.

I help students analyse their playing to improve accuracy and expression. Mistakes are part of learning and are used to strengthen skill. My teaching is flexible and adapted to each student’s needs and learning style. I emphasise positive reinforcement and celebrate every achievement. Students learn discipline, patience, and musical independence. Along with flute, I teach related subjects like performance skills and theory. My goal is to help students enjoy music while becoming confident, thoughtful, and creative musicians.
