About Yunyun

Ni hao! I'm Yun—an enthusiastic Chinese language educator and former head teacher with over 8 years of experience, specialising in one-to-one tutoring. I specialise in crafting lessons that are both communicative and structured, helping you build autonomy and confidence in using the language. As a speaker of five languages—Mandarin, English, French, Thai, and Italian—I know firsthand what it takes to learn a new language, and I use that experience to support and motivate my students. Outside classroom, I love languages & culture, travelling, lose in nature, and I am super sporty - doing Yoga every day (well, almost every day:) ! And constantly exploring new things to do. What about you? Whether you're aiming to pass the HSK, brush up on rusty skills, boost your fluency, or learning survival Chinese for travel, use Mandarin in a business setting, I’ll design each session to be practical, engaging, and aligned with your goals. Learning Mandarin should be rewarding and enjoyable — I’m here to help you make that happen!

About the lesson

I believe effective language learning comes from a balanced mix of communication practice and structured guidance. In my lessons, I use a communicative teaching methodology that emphasises real-life conversation, combined with clear grammar explanations and vocabulary building. This approach helps you develop practical speaking skills while gaining a solid understanding of the language foundation. My lessons are suitable for a wide range of learners: professionals working in or with Chinese companies, beginners eager to start, travellers and future residents of China, those looking to improve oral or written skills, and exam candidates. With over eight years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Teaching Mandarin—earned with distinction in the UK—I’m committed to making your learning journey both effective and enjoyable. In each lesson, you can expect interactive practice, targeted exercises, and personalised feedback. You will speak a lot—in Mandarin! But don’t worry, everything is carefully planned and guided, and I adjust the pace and focus based on your progress and goals. I strive to create a supportive, engaging environment where you can confidently develop your Mandarin skills. Outside of lessons, I’m always happy to answer any questions you have—feel free to reach out anytime!

I am quite impressed by your commitment to make an effort for your passion. Your current level is very good considering you have never had Chinese conversation before, the amount of your vocabs and ability to form sentences. I am sure with some speaking practice, you will be a lot more confident having longer conversations.
