About Anita

I am a 32 year old Canadian living in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. I have been teaching music lessons for 14 years and studying and performing music since the age of 5. I have a Bachelor of Music and a Master's of Music Therapy. I believe that my experience in music therapy allows me to customize music lessons to the abilities and interests of the student. I am extremely passionate about sharing the power of music with others and bringing them the skills to experience music for themselves. My positive personality and 'can do' attitude has encouraged many students to reach their musical goals for years. I genuinely believe in each student and put forth great effort to design lessons that help you reach your full potential.

My teaching approach varies depending on what you want to get out of your lessons. If you would simply love to learn some singing basics; excellent! If you would like to learn some serious piano technique; that is great, too! See below for more details about my qualifications.

Specifics about my piano teaching abilities: teaching from various instructional books, chording, self-accompaniment, improvisation, song writing, teaching the syllabus for the Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada), preparing students for examinations and music festivals.

Specifics about my voice teaching abilities: I have experience teaching from various classical silibi, musical theatre and pop books, as well as coaching singer-song writers. I have experience in choreographing musical theatre numbers and helping individuals prepare for performances. Throughout my years of teaching, I have acquired many tools in my toolbox in order to teach vocal technique and production. I also have experience teaching adults who are 'new to singing' and can help start you on your musical journey at any age!

Specifics about my guitar teaching abilities: I have experience teaching beginner guitar chords and strumming patterns. I also can assist with the intricacies of accompanying onself on guitar.

Lessons are 48$ an hour and I will come to your location (therefore, you need your own instrument; plus, you will need to practice)!

About the lesson

I customize my sessions and lessons based on the needs and/or interests of the client/student. I am experienced in teaching note reading and classical methodologies as well as contemporary chording and improvisation. I believe every individual is musical and I am very passionate about bringing the music out of my amazing students and clients!
