About Hayden
I am a graduate of Cranston High School West, and am currently studying computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, the university rated #2 in America for best computer science programs. I took over 10 AP exams, scoring 5s on all of them (except one). This included self-studying for 4 of them, and even tutoring other students for those classes. I tutored students throughout high school, and now I am a teaching assistant for CMU's introduction to computer science class. I achieved a 1550 on the SAT purely by self-studying, and placed #1 in the state for highest scorer in the state math competition. I also enjoy studying Philosophy, which aids in my ability to teach and explain concepts to others.

Lessons aimed at middle school or high school students teach material with a focus on conceptual understanding rather than memorization, helping students learn what they are doing and why, building a deep understanding and love for learning. With experience in the Socratic method, philosophy, tutoring, and teaching, I know how to make sure students understand concepts at a deep level, making good grades and test scores a byproduct of learning, rather than the main focus or goal. This keeps students motivated and proud when they are able to understand and explain something. A typical lesson will begin with introducing a new concept at a very low level, and building our way up to being able to explain it in greater and greater detail.
