About Rajni

I am a School teacher with B.Ed and Masters in English from DAV College, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. I am a cheerful and fun-loving person. Teaching is my passion and I try to make the activity of studying interesting for my students and support them in every possible way. I have been teaching English and Social Studies in one of the reputed CBSE schools in Panipat (Haryana) for the last 25 years and my students love my way of teaching. My main focus for English is to make my students understand the rules of language and apply it in their daily lives. And for Social Studies, my focus is to make the subject interesting, as many students find Social Studies boring and are scared of it. I am presently taking the following classes - • CBSE School English - Grammar, Comprehension, Creative and Academic Writing, Literature and Syllabus classes for CBSE students, Grade 4 to 8. • CBSE Social Studies (History, Civics, And Geography) - Grade 6 to 7.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I developed an interest in English from my parents. My parents were very good at both spoken and written English, in fact, my father was an English teacher so he used to teach me grammar and hence I developed an interest in this subject. My father also used to teach English to my children whenever he got a chance.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My teachers are my motivation, they were so good at teaching and clearing the basics that I never felt studying boring and learnt a lot from them. So I was inspired to teach my students in such a way that they never feel studying is a burden.
  • How does your work help society?

Education is the key to turning a weakness into a strength. It offers different tools and ways to understand problems that lay ahead of us and help resolve them. More importantly, education provides us with the considerable mental agility to make the right decisions and spring into action when needed. Whether it is about respect, a higher position in society and a professional environment, financial security, family stability, or education provides all of these and much more.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My parents are my role model for my work as they both were teachers and understood the importance of education. Most importantly they always believed that the right to education is for everyone. So I wanted to carry forward their belief and skill.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I love cooking, gardening, watching Punjabi movies, travelling and spending time with my family.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Once a student came to take English Tuition classes from me. I had never taught him before nor did I know him. He was very scared and was literally crying when his parents dropped him at my home. I requested the parents to take him back and send him only when he is mentally prepared to study but they left him anyway. I asked him to just study for 2 days and he could stop coming if he does not like it. He agreed and stopped crying. When the 2nd day ended, I asked him would he like to continue or not? He gave a big smile and said yes I will continue. He is still my student and taking classes from me.
It was both a funny and sweet moment for me.
