About Yu-Ting

Hello, I’m Yu-Ting! :)

I hold a BA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language - Applied Chinese Language and Culture, as well as an MSc in Language Education. I am fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, English, and Korean, and basic skills in German and Spanish.

With over four years of teaching experience, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds, including the USA, the UK, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Nicaragua, Korea, and Japan. I’ve taught both traditional and simplified Mandarin in various settings—ranging from one-on-one tutoring to group classes. My lessons covered a wide array of topics, such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), K-16 education, HSK and TOCFL preparation, or simply everyday conversational Mandarin.

As a certified teacher of Mandarin, I specialise in creating engaging and personalised lessons tailored to learners of all ages and levels. My practical skills, cultural insights, and creative teaching approach ensure that students not only learn effectively but also enjoy the process. I look forward to helping you achieve your Mandarin language goals!

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, interactive, and tailored to the individual needs of learners. The topics of the lessons can range from casual daily conversations to preparation for language assessments. I incorporate visual aids, multimedia resources, and real-life scenarios to make lessons relatable and engaging.

- For young learners, I use storytelling, songs, and interactive games to teach character reading and writing, speaking, and listening.

- For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on discussions, cultural topics, creative writing, news reading, and practical applications.

Other than professional experience, I enjoy movies, literature, and cooking, which are all fantastic cultural elements I integrate in my activities design from time to time. However, feel free to tell me more about what you're interested in so we can learn more about them in classes

Yu-Ting is a wonderful teacher. She is very patient with my daughter (age 5) who is learning her third language. Yu-Ting is always prepared for each class and runs through words and games seamlessly. As a result, my little one is very enthusiastic about learning the language and even when the camera is not on, runs around practicing what was learned. Yu-Ting is also very good at adapting her style to suit my little one, as for example with a story break in the middle of the lesson since attention span of a 5 year old after a full school day, can be a challenge :) .
