About Harper
I am a passionate piano tutor with 9 years of experience and a proven record of teaching around 300 students. My learners include high school students, college learners, and adults, each with unique goals and learning styles. Teaching piano allows me to combine technical instruction with encouragement, helping students grow musically and personally.
My teaching philosophy is centred on building a strong foundation while nurturing creativity and expression. I focus on posture, hand position, finger independence, scales, arpeggios, rhythm accuracy, sight-reading, and musical interpretation. I ensure students understand both the mechanics and emotion of their pieces, creating deeper engagement with music.
Each lesson is structured with warm-ups, technical exercises, theory application, and repertoire practice. I guide students on effective at-home practice to maintain consistent progress. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school programmes, and public events, while some have achieved high distinctions in graded music examinations.
My goal is to develop confident, skilled, and expressive pianists who enjoy music and continue growing throughout their musical journey.

My piano teaching style combines communication, creativity, flexibility, and consistent encouragement. I focus on building a strong technical base while keeping lessons engaging and inspiring. I explain musical concepts step by step and provide clear demonstrations to avoid confusion. Communication builds confidence and helps students overcome challenges.
Creativity keeps learning exciting through improvisation and expressive playing exercises. Flexibility allows me to adjust lesson content and pace according to individual needs. In addition to piano instruction, I teach music reading, theory basics, harmony, and ear training to strengthen overall musicianship. My aim is to guide students towards becoming confident, expressive, and skilled pianists.
