About Tyler

Hi, I’m Tyler!

Finding the right tutor for math and chemistry can feel challenging, but my main goal is to make sure you never have to feel stuck or stressed about any of your classes.

I’m currently a chemical engineering student at BYU, and I also work every day in an active chemical testing lab. Because of that, math and chemistry aren't just topics I teach out of a textbook—they are tools I actually use daily to solve real problems.

I know firsthand how tough these subjects can be, but I also know that anyone can master them with the right approach.

When you work with me, you can expect a patient, clear, and organized tutor who is invested in your success. I know how fast STEM classes move, and I know exactly where students usually run into trouble.

We’ll take things step by step, use visual aids, and focus on simple ways to make hard ideas click. Whether you want to catch up, boost your grades, or get ahead, I am here to help you build real confidence and succeed.

My Teaching Approach:

I don't believe in blunt memorization or just "getting through" homework. My goal is to build deep understanding and long-term comprehension.

Real-World Application: I relate complex mathematical and chemical theories in practical, real-world examples. By showing students how these principles operate outside the textbook, the material becomes intuitive rather than abstract.

Visual Learning: I utilize visual aids constantly. Being able to visualize a chemical reaction mechanism or a calculus concept changes the game for understanding abstract ideas.

Quality Repetition: Mastery comes from quality repetition. We focus heavily on core applicable principles and concepts that students will rely on throughout high school, college, and beyond.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

While I customize every session to the time allotted and the student's immediate needs, a standard session is structured for active engagement:

The Challenge Review: We kick off by breaking down the "Challenge Problem" left from the previous session, diagnosing any hurdles, and celebrating breakthroughs.

Targeted Concept Check & Short Lecture: If we are tackling a new or tricky topic, I deliver a breakdown of the core principles.

Active Practice & Q&A: We dive into current coursework, working through practice problems together. This is an open space for the student to ask questions and learn how to approach difficult problems.

Forward-Looking Review: We look ahead at the material the student will face in class over the next week so they are always a step ahead.

The Next Challenge: I leave the student with a challenge problem to try before our next meeting.

Who These Lessons Are For:

Middle School & High School: Foundations in mathematics and introductory chemistry.

Advanced Placement (AP) & College Prep: High school students tackling rigorous AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, or advanced STEM tracks.

Undergraduate / College Level: Comprehensive support for university-level mathematics, general chemistry principles, and advanced Organic Chemistry coursework.
