About Aritra
I'm Aritra Ganguly — a FIDE-rated chess player, medical student at Burdwan Medical College, and someone who has played chess for over 14 years. My journey with the game began at South Point High School, Kolkata, where I represented the school in competitive tournaments and developed a deep love for the strategic and psychological depth that chess offers. Over the years, I've gone on to represent West Bengal state and India at national and international tournaments, earning FIDE ratings across all three formats — Classical, Rapid, and Blitz — which reflects not just playing experience but a well-rounded understanding of the game at every time control. I want to teach chess because I know firsthand how transformative it is — not just as a game, but as a way of thinking. Chess taught me patience, calculation, and the ability to stay composed under pressure, and those are lessons I want to pass on. In my sessions, you won't just learn moves — you'll learn how to think. My classes feel structured yet relaxed, analytical yet creative, and always tailored to where you are in your chess journey. Whether you're a curious beginner or an ambitious tournament player, I'll meet you where you are and help you become the player you want to be.

My chess sessions are designed for players of all levels — whether you're picking up the pieces for the first time or preparing for your first rated tournament. As a FIDE-rated player across all three formats (Classical, Rapid, and Blitz) with over 14 years of competitive experience representing South Point High School, West Bengal state, and Burdwan Medical College at national and international tournaments, I bring both technical depth and practical tournament experience into every session. The classes focus on building a strong foundation in opening principles, middle game planning, tactical pattern recognition, and endgame technique — always emphasizing why a move is good, not just what the move is. You'll learn to think independently at the board, develop your own playing style, and approach every position with structure and confidence rather than guesswork. Whether your goal is to play casually, crack your first rating, or climb the FIDE ladder, these classes are built to take you there — one good move at a time.
