About Geoff

Hi, I'm an IM, have coached chess for over 35 years & am a qualified teacher. I have played chess for even longer! I learned chess at age 10 & began playing lots at age 13. Many of my students are much younger than this :-) One of my students, GM Ameet Ghasi, was 8 when I started coaching him. I am still in touch with some of my students 20 years later and some are now coaches themselves.

About the lesson

I have a friendly approach to teaching, I explain concepts systematically, very clearly, and have very good chess knowledge. My students say that they enjoy our lessons, and learn a lot. Apart from teaching chess patterns, I will look at your games with you - probably the best way for you to improve your game. We try and have fun in the lessons!
