About Ella

I have been teaching chess for over eight years, working with students of all ages and skill levels. My experience as a competitive player and coach allows me to explain complex concepts clearly while fostering analytical thinking and practical application. Throughout my teaching career, I have guided students preparing for tournaments, school competitions, and casual improvement. This range of experience has taught me how to adapt lessons to individual goals, ensuring every student receives personalized instruction that strengthens both skill and confidence. What motivates me as a tutor is seeing students grow as both players and critical thinkers. I believe chess teaches patience, concentration, and decision-making. My lessons are designed to improve performance while encouraging enjoyment, engagement, and a lasting love for the game.

About the lesson

My chess lessons begin with a focus on openings and basic tactics. Students learn piece development, center control, and king safety, building a solid foundation. I teach how to recognize early threats and opportunities, helping players approach the game strategically and confidently.

As students advance, I emphasize tactical awareness and mid-game strategy. Learners practice forks, pins, discovered attacks, and calculation techniques. Using puzzles and analysis of real games, students develop their ability to anticipate opponents’ moves, make precise decisions, and strengthen their overall understanding of chess strategy.

Endgame skills form a key part of my teaching. Students practice king and pawn endings, basic checkmating patterns, and rook endgames. This ensures they can convert advantages into victories and defend difficult positions effectively, building both competence and confidence for tournament and casual play.
