I am a very organized person, so I will complete a detailed plan prior to any tutoring session. Although I would like to stick to a plans, I understand that they don't always work for every child. I will try to find out every child's personal learning style as early on as possible so that future plans will be as successful as possible.
I am currently studying Child and Youth Studies at Carleton University. I have over three years experience working in recreation settings with children of various ages and abilities. I was an honour roll student as a child, and in the future I would like to become an elementary school teacher.
-Inclusion Counselor, July 2016 to Present I've learned patience, communication, conflict resolution and leadership skills while working for Dovercourt in the Inclusion department. During summer camps, march break camps, and PA days, I have been given the responsibility of ensuring daily positive camp experiences to a variety of children who require additional support.
-Jr. Counsellor September, 2016 to June 2017 As a Junior Counsellor I was responsible for keeping school-age children safe, on task, behaved and engaged in activities at the Dovercourt after school program and march break camp. I developed problem-solving skills, and an ability to adapt to new situations quickly.
