About Karisa

Hello! My name is Karisa, and I am a senior at North Greenville University majoring in Music Education. I have been playing clarinet for 11 years and euphonium for 3 years. I enjoy music, baking, and traveling. I have been overseas three times and have had the opportunity to teach English overseas for a month at a summer camp for elementary and middle school students. I have been teaching with a high school marching band for the past two years, where I lead woodwind sectionals and help with marching blocks as well.

As a performer, I have had many opportunities to perform. I participated in the Texas Honor Band for college students from across the nation, where I placed sixth chair in clarinet. Throughout middle and high school, I participated in All-County Band and District Band. I have also participated in the SC Collegiate Band, where I placed third chair as a freshman in college.

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Karisa. I am a clarinet and euphonium player with experience teaching music and other subjects. I have traveled overseas to teach English and have taught at a summer camp in Kenya. I also have experience teaching flute and piano at the Easley Fine Arts Center.
I believe music lessons should be both educational and enjoyable. As a Music Education student at North Greenville University, I combine my experience as a performer and future music educator to help students build strong musical skills while developing confidence and a genuine love for music.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up focused on tone and technique, followed by scales and other fundamentals. I strongly believe that building a strong foundation is essential for students to flourish as musicians. We then work through the student's current music, focusing on areas that need improvement. Depending on the student's goals, we may also work on sight-reading, rhythm, music theory, or audition and performance preparation. I always leave time for students to perform what they have learned and receive specific feedback to guide their next practice session.
I offer lessons for beginner through intermediate clarinet and euphonium students. My lessons are a great fit for students who are just beginning an instrument, students currently participating in a school band program, or students who want additional support outside of their regular band class. I can also help students prepare for auditions, improve their technique, learn new repertoire, and build confidence in their performances.
