About Neal
I am Neal, a Classics and Italian 2nd year student at UCL! I have loved the classical world since I was 14, and I am driven to teach out of a true love for my subject. My passion to spark the same love of language as I have in others makes me excited to be a tutor, mainly because this very love was sparked by my own Latin tutor in Year 11.

My language lesson strategy is very straightforward: we will go through an unseen gobbet of text and translate it together in one hour. Where we encounter grammar problems, we will revise it on the spot. This provides contextual revision of grammar which will bode much better for exams than going through endlessly boring tables of conjugations and declensions. Vocab lists will be provided for you to work through at a manageable pace, and you might get tested on them! For literature tutoring, the strategy can vary greatly. If you are currently working through a text at school, I am happy to help with any translation queries you have, or if you want more clarification for a certain part of the text. Generally, I will initially ask you to go through a practice paper on your own and I will see which questions can be developed upon. Then, we will practise the techniques for these questions specifically. Over time, we will focus more broadly critically analysing smaller passages and answering macroscopic questions about the characters and themes of the text. I have been a tutor for 5 years, teaching languages like German and Latin. I have been reading Latin and Greek throughout my IB and degree course, and was awarded for my language proficiency with a scholarship from my university. I would love to teach GCSE and A-Level students, but am happy to teach KS3 and University students, if desired.
