About Laura
Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I study anthropology at the University of Sussex, England. I moved when I was 19, which means that in the past four years I have spoken more English than Italian. Since I also had to study English at school and take the various Cambridge and IELTS exams, I understand how difficult and sometimes frustrating it may be to deal with a new language. I started giving English and Italian lessons in high school and then continued once at university, for which I worked as a language café leader and volunteer. I also gave private and online lessons. I am extremely passionate about languages and besides English, I also learned Spanish and I am currently studying Japanese. In addition, at university I took courses in linguistics for language teaching. My great passion, however, is anthropology and in my lessons I would like to include the cultural as well as the linguistic component.

My approach is to adapt my lessons to the students' needs. During the first lesson, I try to understand not only the students' level, but also what goals they have set for themselves and how much time they are willing to dedicate. In this way, I can provide more useful and targeted information. As for my teaching methods, I do use the classic textbooks, but at the same time my goal is to make the lesson and the learning process as fun and enjoyable as possible and, therefore, I create activities and games. Furthermore, I think that music and films can be very useful tools to entice students. Finally, since I spend most of my time in the UK, I want to pass on my knowledge of British culture. My lessons are suitable for all levels and all ages.
