About Brittany
I want to help students get the most out of their science courses! I excelled in Physics and Chemistry at Columbia University and have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
I began tutoring as a volunteer in NYC and I have privately tutored mathematics.

My Teaching Methodology:
My approach to teaching science is built around making complex concepts easier to understand, connecting theory to real-world applications, and helping students develop the confidence to solve problems independently. With a background in engineering studies and professional experience in the financial services industry, I bring an analytical mindset and a practical, problem-solving approach to learning.
I believe science becomes much more manageable when students understand "why" something works instead of simply memorizing definitions, equations, or formulas. Whether we're exploring the laws of motion in physics or understanding chemical reactions, I break challenging concepts into smaller, easier-to-follow steps and explain them in ways that connect with each student's learning style.
I understand that every student learns differently. Some students benefit from visual explanations, while others need to work through practice problems or see how scientific principles apply to everyday life. I adapt my teaching style to each student's needs, pace, and academic goals, creating a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are part of the learning process.
My goal is to make science feel less intimidating and more approachable by building understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence together.
What to Expect in a Typical Lesson:
1. Understanding your goals: We'll start by discussing the topics you're studying, the concepts you find challenging, and what you want to accomplish.
2. Breaking down the science: I'll explain the underlying concepts in clear, manageable steps, using examples and visual explanations when helpful.
3. Applying what you've learned: We'll work through practice problems together, including calculations, equations, and conceptual questions, depending on the topic.
4. Developing independent problem-solving skills: I'll guide you through the reasoning behind each solution so you can approach similar questions with greater confidence on your own.
5. Reviewing and reinforcing: We'll summarize the key concepts, address remaining questions, and identify areas to practice before the next lesson.
Subjects I Can Help With:
- Elementary / Middle School Sciences
- Physics
- Chemistry
Let's work together to make physics and chemistry easier to understand, one concept at a time!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I cannot recommend Brittany enough! She helped me through some of my most challenging calculus and physics courses, and I genuinely don’t think I would have passed without her. She has an incredible ability to break down complicated concepts and make them easy to understand. Her patience, encouragement, and ability to make learning enjoyable played a huge role in my academic success and ultimately helped me achieve my dream of becoming a veterinarian!
Brittany is truly a math whiz! She earned a full scholarship to Columbia University, where she studied mechanical engineering, and has built an impressive career in finance. Beyond academics, she’s even helped me with budgeting and understanding personal finances. She’s not only brilliant but also incredibly patient, approachable, and genuinely passionate about helping others succeed. Anyone would be lucky to learn from her!I am so fortunate to have had Brittany as a tutor for Trigonometry. I was always great at math, but was completely clueless for the first few weeks of trigonometry and thought it going to be impossible.
But she broke everything down in a way that finally made sense. Once she explained radians in a simple, easy-to-understand way, everything started clicking, and I felt so much more confident with the rest of the material.
She’s patient, explains things clearly, and makes sure you actually understand instead of just memorizing formulas. I went from feeling totally lost to feeling like I could actually do the problems on my own.
I definitely recommend her to anyone struggling with math!View more recommendations
