About David

Being a student myself allows me to connect with learners of all ages and understand the challenges they face both inside and outside the classroom. During my freshman year, I volunteered throughout the greater Pittsburgh area teaching math and English to underprivileged elementary and middle school students, helping them prepare for standardized testing and build the confidence they needed to succeed academically. That experience reinforced my belief that great teaching isn’t about simply giving answers—it’s about helping students learn how to think critically and solve problems independently.

As a Division I athlete, I have developed the discipline, patience, time management, and work ethic that I bring into every lesson. I am committed to each student’s success and take pride in celebrating their progress, whether it’s raising a grade, mastering a difficult concept, or gaining confidence in the classroom.

Having transferred from Carnegie Mellon University to Columbia University, I’ve personally navigated the college admissions process twice. Because of that experience, I also enjoy mentoring students through high school course selection, standardized testing, college applications, essays, and the admissions process. My goal is not only to help students earn better grades today, but to equip them with the skills and confidence to achieve their long-term academic goals and gain admission to the colleges they aspire to attend.

About the lesson

I am an experienced tutor who works with students at every level, from elementary school through college. I tutor most academic subjects, with a particular strength in math, problem-solving, writing, SAT and College applications. As a Columbia student studying Economics and Computer Science, a Putnam competition lecturer, and a tutor for Columbia students, I bring both strong academic experience and a patient, clear teaching style.

My lessons are focused on real improvement, not just getting through homework. I have helped students go from scoring in the 50s on midterms to earning over 100% on finals and raising their overall grades dramatically. I work with elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as college students taking challenging courses.

I adapt every session to the student’s needs, whether that means rebuilding fundamentals, preparing for an exam, learning better study habits, or pushing a strong student to reach the next level. My goal is always to make difficult material feel clear, manageable, and even enjoyable.
