About Maria
Biography:
Primarily a cellist, Maria has had many performances opportunities across the UK. Whilst studying with Sue Lowe for 11 years, Maria performed Elgar's cello concerto with the Harrogate Philharmonic Orchestra and since acquiring a scholarship to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, has performed Elgar’s concerto a second time with Leeds Symphony Orchestra. Maria is a member of the Piccadilly Sinfonietta, who often perform in St Martin in the Fields and St James Piccadilly. Their most recent concert included Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto, played by Warren Malley-Smith, and Beethoven’s 5th symphony.
Maria has also toured Yorkshire performing Haydn's first cello concerto with Vacation Chamber Orchestras.
As a former chorister of York Minster, Maria has continued to train and develop her voice. After being awarded a place to study singing with Stephan Loges at the Guildhall, Maria has gone on to winning a choral scholarship with the Esterhazy Singers of London directed by Andrea Brown. In the most recent concert, Maria sang Mendelssohn’s ‘Hear My Prayer' in St Giles Cripplegate. Maria has also has the opportunity to take part in Alice Oswald’s ‘Memorial' which took place in the Barbican centre (2019). Maria also sings with St George’s singers, who frequently sing in Westminster Abbey.

Maria is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher working with her students to ensure that they achieve their very best and most of all enjoy themselves. She has experience preparing students for both ABRSM and Trinity exams with a 100% sucsess rate.Maria is a versatile teacher who enjoys working with pupils of all abilities and ages across London and is based in East London. She has a fun and friendly approach to teaching aiming for pupils to grow in confidence both as a musician and also as a person, motivating her pupils to strive to reach their full potential in a positive and structured learning environment.
Maria is a member of the Musicians Union and has an up to date DBS certificate. She gives both face-to-face and online lessons.
