About Kit
I'm a Scottish composer and producer, studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I've written for orchestras, pop singers, radio drama, films, dancers, and actors, amongst many other projects. I've got experience across many styles, including contemporary classical, musical theatre, film, pop, and jazz.
I'm currently writing a new piece for the Ligeti Quartet, working on a devised new musical about kayaks, and producing songs for two singer-songwriters. I've recently finished projects with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, the Illuminated River Foundation, and the Bauhaus Band.
I also play French horn. I started on a half-sized instrument aged seven, and have gone on to jazz bands, theatre pits, and the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland. I once played in the world premiere of John Luther Adams’s Across the Distance: 32 horns in a walled garden blanketed by sea mist (it was pretty much the best thing ever).
I volunteer with Free to Be Kids, a London-based charity providing residential holidays for young people facing a range of challenges.
I love the Cairngorms, open cello strings, birch trees, harmon mutes, Scottish ceilidh tunes, and poems about crows.

When teaching, I value exploration and playfulness, prioritising hands-on experimentation! I don't want to impose my own preferences; instead, I want to help you realise your ideas as effectively as possible.
I love offering a range of inspiration, drawing on my wide knowledge of music from different genres, cultures, and eras. I often suggest listening as homework; in lessons, we can then talk through what you liked, what you didn't, and what you could use in your own work.
I teach music up to high school level, including GCSE, A level, and IB. I'm happy to help with composition, theory, academic music, and anything else music-related you're interested in! I've got experience tutoring for exams, as well as teaching extracurricular composition, ABRSM music theory, French horn, and piano.
