About Emma
I’m a professional software engineer with real-world experience building applications, and I bring that practical perspective directly into every tutoring session. I teach math from elementary through calculus, and programming across all major languages and concepts — from first loops to data structures and algorithms.
My approach is patient, structured, and student-driven. I start by diagnosing exactly where you’re stuck, then build understanding step by step using clear explanations, real examples, and guided practice. I don’t just give answers — I make sure concepts genuinely make sense so you can solve problems independently.

I’m a software engineer and educator passionate about making technical concepts click. Whether you’re a curious middle schooler tackling algebra or a college student wrestling with data structures, I meet you exactly where you are and build from there.
My teaching style is conversational and hands-on. I don’t lecture — I ask questions, work through problems with you, and explain the why behind every concept, not just the how. For math, I focus on building intuition first so formulas feel logical rather than arbitrary. For programming, we write real code from minute one — no dry theory until you’ve already seen it in action.
A typical session starts with a quick check-in on what’s clicked and what hasn’t, then we tackle your toughest sticking point head-on before reinforcing it with guided practice. I leave you with a clear next step so momentum carries between sessions.
I work with students across a wide range, from K–12 math (pre-algebra through AP Calculus) to college-level programming in Python, JavaScript, Java, and more — including data structures, algorithms, web development, and intro CS courses. I also support adult learners making a career transition into tech.
