About Will

I have been teaching students for 5 years now. I've taught all genres from classical to jazz. I take students from never having touched a piano before, to being able to sit down at some keys and play whatever they want, whenever they want. I particularly enjoy teaching someone right at the start of their journey as I can see them become more than just a piano player, but a musician, and in my opinion that's one of the most rewarding things someone can be. I will teach theory, rhythm, harmony, and improvisation, on top of working through books that lead to grades, as these skills are applicable/necessary in so many situations. I keep this engaging/interesting (try to) by not teaching with too much pressure and using lots of games, and teaching them things they want to play.

About the lesson

I have developed a teaching method which will provide children with an understanding of rhythm, harmony and musicianship far more than just grades. I am of course happy to take them through grades as well once they're ready. I try to keep the lessons as engaging and interesting as possible, using games as a way to learn the building blocks of music.

Lessons are typically 30 minutes, though can be longer if requested.

Lessons are generally for younger students (though can be any age) and for beginners.
